Fly Screens/EFK Units

If you saw a rat in a restaurant you were eating in, your first reaction would probably be to leave. However if a fly landed on your lunch you would shoo it away. But did you know that flying insects carry many dangerous disease-causing organisms, these include the following:

Klebsiella - these bacteria are often the cause of many lower respiratory and urinary tract infestations. They have been found on the outside cuticle of the fly and within the gut.

Campylobacter - these bacteria have been found to be the causative agents of many acute gastro-enteritis type complaints.

Streptococci - Often found in the skin and gut infections in humans, they to can be carried by flying insects.

Chlamydia - these are parasites that can cause a variety of complaints in humans and there is increasing evidence that flies can transmit them.

Flies are a source of spreading diseases and pathogens such as food poisoning . The most effective means of protection is using electric fly killers and fly screens.

EFK units are designed to attract insects to an ultra violet light source fronted by an electrified grid. As the insects fly through the grid a current shorts across the insect and stuns it or kills it. Insects are collected in a catch tray under the unit which can be emptied.
